The Anthology
The Anthology is a collection of unconnected short stories that were written over my time at University studying for my Bachelor's Degree in Creative Writing.
There are some descriptive pieces, some character-driven narratives, some comedy, horror, heart-wrenchers and gut-busters. There's fantasy, fairytales, and horror.
Keep a tissue box handy, as many of these stories will either have you laughing yourself to tears or punching you right in the feels (I'm looking at you, At The End).

Stuck
James and his worry-wort mother get stuck in a lift, trapped between floors.
With asthma and an anxiety disorder complicating things, it makes for a tense situation as they wait for rescue.
Out of Body Experience
What happens if you become a ghost after you are bitten by a zombie? For one young scientist, 'a lot of embarrassment' is the answer.
The Hungry Mimic
"There are certain things that we know that we don’t have to be taught. They are just there in our minds right from the beginning; I know that I am a mimic. I know that my kind reproduces by duplicating ourselves, but the offspring is a separate being with none of its parent’s memories. I can understand the common tongue, though I cannot speak it. I know how to shapeshift and secrete the sticky sap that helps us catch our prey. And I knew that I would spend my whole life alone, in a dungeon, luring people and creatures to their deaths.
Or at least I thought that I would."
At The End
"He took an unsteady, deep breath in and let it out slowly.
I gathered my strength and climbed the steps beside the bed to join him. I used to be able to jump up here easily, but old age has caught up to me. Now, my joints ache, and something once so simple seems impossible.
I need to be here. I can feel the end coming for both of us, and I wonder if he feels it too.
Can one who lives such a long life feel the end? He must. He must be able to feel the weight of the lifetimes he has lived.
It seemed so impossible that one such as he could age and die."
He has protected my family for so many generations, sharing in good times and bad, holding each of us at the ends of our lives and laying us to rest in our ancestral burial ground.
Now as death finally approaches him, I can only hope to live long enough to be here for him at the end.
A Crisis of Faith
She was an officer of the law. So were her father and grandfather before her. She believed in using the law to uphold order and keep people safe and that those who broke the rules needed to be punished for the safety of others. She knew there were those who cheated the system.
Now, she had to choose;
The system she believed in, her moral code, and her honour and integrity, or her best friend, whom she knew the system would fail to protect.
Today Was A Good Day
"Today was a good day.
Three people died."
An Autumn Day
Seasons change and the world moves on. A look at one small part of it as summer moves into autumn.
Scarletts's Wolf
What if Red Riding Hood's wolf wasn't the villain of the story? What if Red herself was a very young child?
The first is a scary and dangerous place for a little girl, but a friendly wolf spirit will help her get to Nana's house safely.
Post Office Park
Time marches ever onward and places once loved as a child get lost and abandoned, falling into ruin.
Dudes, Dames, and Damsels in Distress
Andrew Temple by day, Amy Templar by night.
Andy is a normal guy working a normal R&D job, coding new software, building new tech, and generally just enjoying what he does and making friends with his coworkers (maybe finding romance?).
None of them know he does drag shows at least once a week. It's not that he was hiding it, just that it never came up and he never mentioned it.
A prank gone wrong reveals that not everyone is as accepting as they seem. Trust is broken, and friendships are destroyed.
The Labyrinth
I must escape. They are coming. I have to escape.
